Encounters with non-human beings

From 2022 to 2026, Barbara Schirmer created three programs entitled “Encounters with Non-Human Beings.”

For the ANIMALS category, she has chosen the COW she sees every day in her neighbor’s meadow and will perform “CHUESY” together with a dancer in barns for cows and people.

In 2024, the TREE project marks the encounter with the second category: PLANTS. “BAUMSY” uses music and dance to honor the personalities of trees in parks from Zurich, Bern, Basel, and Lucerne all the way to the forest on St. Peter’s Island.

In 2026, the third project emerges, dedicated to a genre all its own: MUSHROOMS.

With “PILZ-X,” music and light art evolve underground—where the fungal mycelium is active—into a poetic art performance.
